Beatabet is formed out of a mutual desire from founders to exhibit and showcase experimental and alternative audio visual work.
03/2002 – 04/2004 Beatabet successfully organises and runs a monthly experimental AV event named ‘Beatabetically Modified’ at The Cellar, Oxford (Capacity 200)
01/12/03 Beatabet organises a special Audio Visual event named ‘Fidget’ at Ginglik, London (Capacity 200)
01/02/04 Beatabet organises music event named ‘Beatabet’ at the Bongo Club, Edinburgh (capacity 400)

04/2006 – 10/2006 Beatabet runs ‘Beatafarm’ creative residency programme in France for 65 Artists
01/12/06 Beatabet runs experimental Audio Visual event at Almodavers 208, Barcelona (capacity 150)
01/12/06 Beatabet participates in and helps organise charity fundraising event ‘Zabardast’ at Jack’s, London (Capacity 500)
01/01/07 External Consultant Jacob Berkson chairs a series of meetings designed to evaluate Beatafarm and improve the coming summer’s event
01/02/07 Beatabet members fly out to Latvia and lay down foundations for an artistic exchange programme
01/03/07 Beatabet organises and runs a performance poetry and live music event at the Hope, Brighton (Capacity 120)
01/03/07 Beatabet applies for incorporation as Beatabet LLP to be able to officially and professionally distribute members’ work
01/05/07 Beatabet launches record label at a big launch event at the Whitechapel Factory. Event includes gigs, sound, and video installations
06/2007 - 09/2007 Beatabet runs Beatafarm ’07. The project has an updated and revised agenda and modus operandi following a Beatabet internal review of the previous year’s project.
01/10/07 Beatabet runs a successful music event at the Greenhouse Effect
01/11/07 Work on new interactive Beatabet website starts
01/01/08 Internal review of Beatabet results in a shuffle of committee members with more appropriate and precise role and job specifications
01/03/08 Beatabet co-curates and participates in “Brussels meets Brighton: The MetaHub, Phase 1” at The Basement, Brighton. The event included live real-time performances and musical collaboration simultaneously in Brighton and Brussels via the internet, live fm radio streaming and wireless webcams.
01/04/08 Beatabet curates a sold-out live music event at The Albert, Brighton featuring Beatabet affiliated artists. (Capacity 100)
29/04/08 - 03/05/08 “Brussels meets Brighton: The MetaHub, Phase 2”. The Shunt Lounge, London (capacity 700). In conjunction with Platform Centrale, Beatabet plays an integral part in devising, co-ordinating and performing at this massive four day cross-disciplinary Arts festival. 110 Artists from Brighton, London and Brussels were involved. The MetaHub was a computerised Audio-Visual pool operated by 12 Vj’s, sound artists and hackers through which all audio and visual feeds from the entire exhibition passed; all participant artists could then take any data-stream to use as they please.
18/05/08 Brighton Festival Fringe: ‘Beatabet Alphabet’. Beatabet transforms the disused spaces under Brighton station into a live music room, an installation and performance room and a cinema screening Beatabet shorts. Along side this Beatabet provided a day time programme of creative workshops. Capacity 300
19/07/08 ‘What the F*** is Happening now?” Curated by Beatabet, protoPLAY and Vole, a Live-Art festival in the grounds of a country manor house consisting of a matrix of durational and spatial works. Capacity 450
08/2008 - 10/2008 Beatabet runs the third installment of its annual creative residency Beatafarm. This year’s project places particular emphasis on workshops and structured collaboration days.
08/2008 – 10/2008 Beatabet runs a weekly radio show on fm radio (radio Reverb) from the Beatafarn ’08 project showcasing new work being created at the residency.
22/10/08 As part of the inaugural White Night Festival, Brighton, Beatabet presents an eclectic array of visual, movement based and musical performances devised at Beatafarm 2008 at the Phoenix Gallery (Capacity 300)

The Beatabet Collective have recently returned to the UK after the fourth instalment of it's annual creative residency, Beatafarm. Though shorter in duration than previous years, the time spent in France has been productive and inspired. You will be able to sample our endevours almost immediately at The White Night and WIN! WIN! WIN! as well as future gigs and releases.
